![]() ![]() The fact that this occurs during loading, coupled with its penchant for crashing, means that unless you're quite vigilant you'll easily send sliced files to print with wildly incorrect settings and thus fail. × Auto updates itself without warning, erasing settings (both local and cloud stored) and resetting to OEM. ![]() Furthermore, edits to their coloration do not persist across auto updates - which leads to the next point. ![]() × Island detection default colors are ridiculous (mid-gray and red) and lack the slightest vibrance that would draw the eye. × Island detection is imprecise/weak AF and still requires follow-up with UVTools every single time to catch errors that would lead to print failures otherwise. (my system runs top-tier VR like butter [Ryzen7, 1080ti, 32GB RAM, etc) × Unpredictable and too-frequent crashes that lack any error code to hint at troubleshooting, much less their source. Source: have been a paid user for over 2yrs, moving away from the lackluster crapĮdit: some examples of said bullshit for your own edification: Other options for support of 3D models to print are available from better software and Lychee is simply half-assed schlock at this point. Lychee is a cobbled mess and while it may seem convenient at first, every major update puts them closer to a subscription service model and none of the glaring issues get fixed, either. I'm getting alot more fails on free than ever did using pro but that could be down to anything but having the monthy option is great To test if it's the one for you. I started off with the pro months trial when started 3D printing just a couple months ago and when it was up I was lost with just how basic the free version really is! Loosing the cutting tool was a big deal for me that tool worked great compared to anycubic etc the slicer just works best way to describe it! Amd the amount of tweekimg I was able to do was incredible! I've been running free version for last 2 weeks just to try amd test this theory but tonight I'm away to just get a monthy subscription for the pro! It's a price that's not gonna be noticed unlike a full year's but maybe after a month or 2 I might end up going for the full year you just never know what is going to happen burning would definitely say go for it! I've read so much on this the free version being just fine, yeah OK maybe for starting off but pro is really a must for me now getting in to bigger and better models and saves on print fails!. Looks like it's currently €65.99/year, if it went much above that I may start looking again but for now I'm happy with it. I'm on my second year of the 49.99 €/year subscription. It does what I need and I have no reason to change. I can't really give a fair comparison to current Chitu vs Lychee but I'm happy with Lychee Pro. Back then Chitubox didn't have island detection at all so that goes to show how long it's been since I've really used it. Like most people I used Chitubox before doing Lychee slicer. Then I manually support the few islands that auto support didn't do (there are almost always at least a few). I check fine detail areas and change some supports to light (0.2mm tip diameter) as needed. After that I do island detection and auto support with a mid (0.32mm tip diameter) supports. My usual way of supporting is to manually support all of the parts that need heavy and mid-heavy support. I've found the island detection to be accurate and I've not attributed any fails to the island detection being problematic. I have had next to no crashes in my time with it. I have been using Lychee slicer pro since Janu3:05 PM, lol. ![]()
